Though I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving for the traditional values the holiday has been known for, I am still very thankful for so many things in my life.  I am quite blessed in many ways.

First, I want to share a video that was made a few years back in regard to Columbus Day.  I feel it is very relevant to Thanksgiving as well.  Thanksgiving is a holiday to ‘celebrate’ and honor the harvest festival of the Pilgrims and Native Americans in the 1600′s.  It was made a national holiday by President Lincoln, mostly as a way to create unity between the north and south.  Thanksgiving is a holiday that celebrates the genocide of many native people and while somehow creating this illusion of peace and unity.

With that said, it’s also a day to be thankful and joyous for the wonderful things the Universe has provided.

I am thankful for my son.  He is what keeps me going when I have a rough day.  He teaches me things at every turn and shows me how to just let go.

I am thankful for my chosen family and friends.  Their support has come to be invaluable.

I am thankful for my job(s).  Who else can say they are an award winning director/producer, queer porn star, wound care nurse, event planner, PTA mom, ‘housewife’, massage therapist, social media/grassroots marketer? A few, but not many .

I am thankful for my bestie (baby daddy – inside joke), Chance McKinsey.  I love this boy so much.

I am thankful for my Amy.  She is the rock behind Sophia St. James and has been my number one supporter from day one.

I am thankful for my grandparents.  Being raised by them showed me what true, unconditional, ever lasting love was.  I learned the value of being independent, yet loving and loyal to my home.

I am thankful for my Occupy family.  I found a true and real community with the Occupation.  And it help me get in touch with my social justice roots. VIVA OCCUPATION!

Last but definitely not least, I am thankful for my fans.  YOU are the reason I am here.  YOU are the reason I keep doing what I do.  I love you guys!  I love the fan mail, the comments, the notes.  Thank you so much for your support.

Since I was a small child I have been fascinated with nature.  All that is nature.  Earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanoes… you name it, I’m sure I’m obsessed with it.  However, there are two obsessions that stand out from the rest.

The Northern Lights aka aurora borealis
and
The Southern Lights aka aurora australis

For years I have been mesmerized by these two phenomenons.  There are few things that occur in nature that are as beautiful as the aurora borealis and australis.  Witnessing these are definitely on my bucket list.

They are caused by the collision of energetically charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere (called the thermosphere).  When this collision occurs, a natural light display in the sky happens, particularly in the high latitude (Arctic and Antarctic) regions.

The above video is an eight minute short film.  Though it includes many different beautiful views from space, it also features some amazing shots of the aurora borealis and aurora australis.

I wasn’t too good at documenting the night as I was to caught up in the moment.  But let me assure you it was one of the most amazing nights I have ever experienced.

I arrived to base camp around 10p and it was a great sight.  Many people holding signs and standing in solidarity.  I immediately was welcomed with smiles and cheers.  I walked the grounds for a bit meeting interesting people. The camp was set up quite nicely.  There was a sanitation area, supply area, food station, medic area, and information area.  People were helping others in anyway they could; offering their tent to those without one, sharing their food and beverages, and helping others set up their own ‘living area’.

I finally decided to find a place to set up camp for the night. I talked with so many interesting and amazing people until 3am.  I met a fellow massage therapist, musician, business owner, semi-professional life coach, and many others.  It was also nice to run into some of my super sweet friends.  So I shared a tarp with my two friends, drank whiskey, eat green brownies, and laughed loudly through the night.   I witnesses team work, solidarity from passing cars (horns honking and people giving the peace sign), strangers helping strangers, and it was a damn good feeling to be there.

This Sunday, September 4th, in Portland, the one and only Peaches is coming.  The local LGBTQ newspaper, Just Out, had contests to win tickets.  The last contest they had was yesterday.  You had to take this picture↓

Oh boy!  First let me say I had a fabulous time in Los Angeles for the AVN Novelty Expo (ANE) and ‘O’ Awards.  I wasn’t sure at first if I would benefit from such a trip, but I am so very glad that I went.  It was beneficial in more ways than one.

As you can see my companies that I were representing were ASLAN Leather and SSJ Entertainment.  I am the PR and Marketing Representative (and anything else I can assist with) for ASLAN Leather.  And, well, you can guess that I am the owner/producer/director of SSJ Entertainment.  It was a great time for networking and connections with companies within the industry. I was there with Carrie Gray, owner of ASLAN Leather.  We spend the first day in Los Angeles shopping and hanging out in Venice Beach.  Did you know you could get your medical marijuana card in less than 15 minutes?  Yeah… I didn’t know either.  That is until I was in Venice Beach.

There were many highlights of the trip.  One of them being reconnecting with one of my mentors, Buck Angel.  He pretty much is the reason I started SSJ Entertainment and why I am where I am today.  He gave me encouragement and wisdom… REAL WISDOM.  Real talk to help me, not to help himself.  I entered the industry September 2009.  I met him March 2010 and I made my first film July 2010.  I have always had drive and determination.  I have always had goals and focus.  But sometimes I lose that focus, Buck is always there to guide me.  He tells me when I’ve done great and he tells me when I need to shape up.  You know… like a papa. That’s what he is—> Papa Buck!

Buck Angel is coming out with his own toy line this coming Fall [of 2011].  He and his toy maker, Gorilla Glass, had some samples on hand.  They are beautiful, original, and they have great craftsmanship.  Once they make their splash in the Fall, I shall have one on my hot little hands and you will know just how great it is.  It’s hard to believe that Bucks toy maker started and still does make glass body jewelry.  I also got to meet Elaine Angel, the author of The Piercing Bible and Buck Angels wife.  She is so sweet and so very cute.  Love her blinged out dimples!

Another fabulous moment in my history was meeting the amazing and talented Nina Hartley. Like most, I have admired her for many years. We both have a history in the medical field and have an invested interested in the kink and fetish scene.  In meeting her I learned not only is she beautiful and sexy, she is really humble and smart.  She is REAL (If you have been following me, you know I don’t do drama, fake, or bullshit!).

Another highlight of my trip was meeting up with Q and Sara Vibes, the reigning Ms. IMsL.  They are always a delight to be around.  Plus they are just as perverted as I am, so we fit!  All 3 of us recorded a PSA for Buck about being a kinky POC. Hopefully that will be coming very shortly.

In addition to meeting some lovely people, I also met some of my favorite toy making companies around.  Including Fun Factory, nJoy, Steele Malone, Papaya Toys, and Crystal Delights.  I also made some new friends with Minna, G-Spot Lollipop, Numa Gel, and Sliquid LLC.

FEMINIST PORN AWARDS 2011

When I first discovered I was nominated for a Feminist Porn Award, I almost crashed my car.  I was screaming and HAD to call someone… anyone.  I was naturally high all day long.  I was absolutely honored to be nominated with such great directors and producers like Shine Louise Houston, Tristan Taormino, Maria Beatty, and Erika Lust.

Never in a million years would I think I would my film be recognized to win an award.  After all, I have only been in the industry for a year and half plus this was my first directional film.  When I set out to create Twisted Getaway (produced under SSJ Entertainment) I wanted to create an authentic, sexy, kink filled film that was fill of sex appeal, true kink & BDSM appeal, while representing real, true queers and our passion.

My date for the evening was the wonderful Carrie Gray from ASLAN Leather.
We looked quite amazing together if I do say so myself.

WE WERE RECOGNIZED!!!
We got an honorable mention along side with Kimberly Kane, Lily Cade, and my fellow Oregonian Tobi Hill-Meyer.
